LUSH (Via Forested) | Ingredient Vetting for an Iconic Product Line
LUSH is a global beauty brand rooted in ethical sourcing and handmade products. In partnership with Forested, I worked on a special ingredient procurement for LUSH's beloved "Honey I Washed The Kids" line - sourcing wild Ethiopian honey that aligned with both brand values and product requirements.
What I Led
I assisted in preparing Forested's honey for commercial use by managing shelf-stability research (including water activity levels), conducting research on its medicinal properties, and coordinating quality assurance documentation. I also supported product development handoffs between sourcing teams and LUSH's UK formulation team.
What Shifted
The raw honey met LUSH's strict requirements for ethical sourcing and product quality, enabling Forested to become part of a globally distributed SKU. The process proved how smallholder-origin ingredients could meet scale and compliance without losing their story or integrity - and how sourcing can be both regenerative and commercially viable.
